Halloween, celebrated on October 31st every year, has a rich history that dates back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This festival marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, which was believed to be a time when the veil between the living and the dead became thin.
The Celts would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off any malevolent spirits that might be roaming the earth during this time. When the Roman Empire conquered the Celts, they merged their own festivals with the Celtic traditions, creating a unique blend of cultures.
Fast forward to the present day, and Halloween has evolved into a global celebration that is all about embracing fear and having fun. Children dress up in elaborate costumes, trick-or-treating from house to house, while adults attend haunted houses, horror movies, and costume parties.
The holiday has also become a significant commercial event, with billions of dollars spent on decorations, costumes, and other Halloween-themed merchandise.
As the owner of this website, I'm excited to share some of my favorite Halloween traditions with you. From carving jack-o-lanterns to baking spooky treats, there are countless ways to get into the holiday spirit.
One of my personal favorites is attending a haunted house or two (or three, or four...). There's something about being scared out of your wits that just adds to the thrill and excitement of Halloween.
